Use our EV charger installation cost calculator to estimate the price of installing a Level 2 EV charger at your home. Installation costs can vary depending on factors like the distance from your electrical panel, available panel capacity, and installation complexity. Most home EV charger installations typically range between about $800 and $3,000 depending on the electrical setup and wiring required. This calculator helps you understand the potential installation cost before requesting a detailed quote from ChargePro Texas.

Adjust the options below — your estimate updates instantly.
Where are we running the wires from?
ⓘThis estimate assumes your panel has enough capacity for an EV charger and space for a dedicated breaker.
⚠️ Most subpanels don't have the capacity for an EV charger. Garage subpanels are typically 60–100A with most capacity already used. A load management device is usually required. We strongly recommend running the charger from the main panel.
Standard install: dedicated 60A breaker for a 48A charger on the main panel.
Distance from panel to charger
25 ftⓘDistance is the single biggest factor in your installation cost. The longer the run, the more wire, conduit, and labour is required. Keep in mind that wires don't run in a straight line across the house — they route up, over, and back down, so the actual wire length is often longer than it appears.
Installation complexity
ⓘWhat is an attic run?
In many Texas homes the electrical panel is not near the charger location. To get the wire from the panel to your charger, your electrician routes it up the wall and across the attic — this is called an attic run.
No attic run — Panel is in or right next to the charger location, or directly behind the wall.
1-story attic run — Wire travels up from the electrical panel into a single-story attic and back down to the charger location.
2-story attic run — Wire must travel through a two-story attic space, often with tighter access, longer distances, and more complex routing. Significantly more labour.
Add smart load management device?
ⓘA load management device monitors real-time electrical demand and automatically reduces charger output when your home's power usage is high — protecting your panel and potentially avoiding a costly upgrade.
Do you already have a charger?
ⓘChargePro Texas can provide the charger at cost — no mark up — if needed.
Charger prices are typical retail. ChargePro Texas can advise on the best charger for your vehicle and setup.

Annual Miles Driven
ⓘThe average American drives about 13,500 miles per year. The more you drive, the faster your EV pays off the installation.

Include maintenance savings?
ⓘEVs have significantly lower maintenance costs than gas cars — no oil changes, fewer brake jobs due to regenerative braking, and a simpler drivetrain.
Per mile — costs scale automatically with how much you drive. Good if you drive a lot more or less than average.
Flat annual rate — a fixed yearly amount regardless of mileage. Good if you already know roughly what you spend on maintenance each year.
Gas cars average around $0.08–$0.12/mile or $800–$1,200/year. EVs average around $0.02–$0.04/mile or $200–$400/year.

This was my first experience setting up at-home EV charging. I bought a Tesla Wall Connector when I ordered my Model Y, then had to figure out where to go from there. I contacted at least 5 Tesla certified electrician services, and Charge Pro was by far the most responsive!
They reached out over text right away. They asked a series of questions, requested photos, and made sure they were very well informed. Then they came out for an in-person assessment, which was quick and easy. Then, rather than schedule the follow up appointment, they offered to just knockout the installation right then and there. And the quote was very competitive. It was great!
These guys were true pros from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Very polite and very professional folks. They were communicative and responsive to my questions, and completed the work cleanly and quickly. When one of the workers accidentally stepped on a loose board in the attic, they paid in full for builders to come repair it the next day.
